This Privacy Policy describes how Kibblefy ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the Kibblefy mobile application (the "App") and any related services (collectively, the "Services").

By using Kibblefy, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Summary: Kibblefy is a pet nutrition tracking app. We collect pet information you enter (name, breed, weight, photos, feeding logs), images you capture for food bag scanning, subscription status from Apple, and standard device identifiers. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app: RevenueCat (subscription management), Apple (payment processing), Vercel (backend hosting), and Anthropic (AI image analysis). We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. Apple processes all payments — we never see your card.

1. What information we collect

In short: We collect pet information you provide, food bag images you scan, subscription status from Apple, and standard device identifiers needed to run the app.

1.1 Pet profile information

When you set up Kibblefy, you provide information about your pet. This is the core data the app needs to calculate accurate calorie targets. We collect:

1.2 Food bag scans (images)

When you use the Scan feature, you capture an image of a pet food package. The image is sent to our backend server, which forwards it to a third-party AI service (Anthropic) for analysis to extract nutrition information (kcal per cup, brand, product name). See Section 5 for details.

We do not store scanned images on our servers after analysis. The extracted text data (brand name, calorie content) is returned to your device and stored locally.

1.3 Subscription information

Kibblefy is a subscription app. We do not handle payment information ourselves — Apple processes all transactions through the App Store. However, we use a third-party subscription management service (RevenueCat) to track your subscription state. RevenueCat collects:

We never see your credit card, Apple ID password, or full Apple ID. Apple's standard payment policies apply.

1.4 Device and application data

To operate the app, we may automatically collect:

1.5 Information you provide directly

If you contact us by email, we receive whatever information you include in that message (your email address, name if provided, and the content of your message).

1.6 Sensitive information

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as race, ethnicity, religion, biometric identifiers, precise geolocation, health diagnoses, or government identification numbers.

1.7 Information from third parties

We receive subscription status information from RevenueCat and Apple, as described above. We do not purchase or receive personal information from data brokers, advertising networks, or other third-party sources.

2. How we use information

In short: We use information to run the app, calculate your pet's nutrition plan, manage your subscription, and respond to your support requests.

We process information for the following purposes:

We do not use your information for advertising, ad targeting, or sale to third parties.

3. Legal bases for processing

In short: We process your information because it's necessary to provide the Services you signed up for, because we have a legitimate interest in operating our business, or because we are legally required to.

3.1 If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

3.2 If you are in Canada

We process your information with your consent (express where required, implied for activities reasonably necessary to provide the Services). You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.

4. Who we share information with

In short: We share information only with the service providers we need to operate the app. We do not sell your data. We do not share with advertisers.

We share information with the following categories of service providers, each bound by their own privacy policies and contractual obligations:

Provider Purpose Data shared Privacy policy
RevenueCat Subscription state management and entitlement verification Anonymous user identifier, subscription status, purchase history, device identifiers revenuecat.com/privacy
Apple App Store Payment processing for in-app subscriptions Apple handles payment data directly; we never see your card. Apple shares anonymized purchase confirmations and subscription state with us. apple.com/legal/privacy
Vercel Backend API hosting and image processing infrastructure Food bag images forwarded through our API endpoint; standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps) vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
Anthropic AI-powered image analysis (extracting nutrition data from food bag photos) Food bag images submitted via the Scan feature anthropic.com/legal/privacy

4.1 Other situations where we may share information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

5. AI and image processing

In short: Our Scan feature uses Anthropic's AI to extract nutrition information from food bag images. The image is processed for analysis and not retained on our servers after the response is returned.

Kibblefy includes a Scan feature that uses artificial intelligence to read pet food packaging. When you take a photo of a food bag:

  1. The image is sent over an encrypted connection to our backend API hosted on Vercel.
  2. Our backend forwards the image to Anthropic, which uses computer vision to extract data such as brand name, product name, calories per cup, calories per piece, and calories per kilogram.
  3. The extracted text-based nutrition data is returned to your device.
  4. The image is not retained on our servers after the analysis completes.
  5. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy and our agreement with them. Anthropic does not use submitted images to train their models when accessed through their commercial API.

The scan feature does not analyze your pet, your face, your location, or anything other than the food packaging in the frame.

You must not use the Scan feature in any way that violates Anthropic's terms of service or any applicable law.

6. How long we keep information

In short: Pet data is stored on your device while you use the app. Subscription records are retained for up to 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. Scanned images are not retained after analysis.

When we no longer have a legitimate business or legal need to retain your information, we will delete or anonymize it.

7. How we keep information safe

In short: We use industry-standard security practices. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including:

Despite these measures, no electronic transmission or storage system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You access the Services at your own risk and should keep your device and Apple ID password secure.

8. Children's privacy
